It was noted that Gray Rainbow (GB), placed fifth, lost its right cheekpiece approximately two furlongs out.
The cheekpiece was inspected and as it was found to be in a serviceable condition, no further action was taken.
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Bruce Banner (IRE), which had never previously been placed, was considered.
Gary Brown’s explanation that the gelding had benefitted the significant step up in trip, having had limited opportunities as a two year old and having been able to get cover and settle better on this occasion having run too freely previously.
