He enjoyed bossing them - all ours were a wee bit flat this past while. The one (Battle Borne) in the first race was second and ran a nice race, so they are coming back. What he does is break well from the stalls. He had a bad draw, so Luke decided to try and get him out and get him into a good position. He probably didn't realise he was as far in front, but he needed it in the end. He ran well to the line, so it gives him a nice summer scheme. We will follow the same route as last year and maybe go to the Curragh with him, that's the plan. That's a big boost for him, even a confidence booster for him and for us all!. He's a smashing horse and he gives it his all. Luke did the fractions well. He texted me earlier in the week for the ride and is a smashing lad. Conor (McKenna, son) never misses it. He'll be jumping around the bed in Australia, it's late there!

That’s 10 races won now and to have a horse that can win 10 races in this country, it’s hard enough to win one. He’s a legend and we love him,. He loves it here, it’s maybe the stiff five. He had a couple of flat spots at the end of last year and the start of this year. When he’s on song he’s on song. He looks well and everything has been going well. We’ve run him over six once and he didn’t get home. I think there is a race in Bellewstown for him, he likes the fast five there. That depends on what the handicapper does. I had a fair idea that he’d overturn Mary Shoelaces today. Colin (Keane) felt he probably could have won the last day. Paddy’s 5lb helped. We’re trying to help Paddy and Sam Coen, they are all neighbours and friends so it’s not simple. I used to be slagging Paddy saying that he was the only one in Ireland that hadn’t rode a winner on him. There was no pressure on him at all. He said to me he was bouncing and I said ‘today is the day Paddy — ten wins’.

You always think that when it is somebody else's horse (placings would be reversed) but, when it is your own, you are worried. On merit, I think he would have won and he is an improving horse. He went up 8lb, so it was a good effort. He's a very relaxed horse and he's a nice horse. We are hoping that he will probably have another run here, but we would also be hoping that would get a turf and an all-weather mark. He's a very kind horse and has a very relaxed attitude for a sprinter.

I was giving out about Leigh a furlong down, he was being held up, but sure it is the way he finished. He loves that stiff five (furlongs) here. He has run well every time he has ran here. We reared him and he has been on the farm a long time, and he has owed us that. We have been persistent. I had him in a claimer and I took him out because I said he will win one, and I didn't want to lose him. He's a big, strong boy and he is only learning his trade now. I just thought with the blinkers, the minute he didn't see a horse, he stopped. He rocketed home, so I am going to keep the cheekpieces!

We always liked this filly. She was named after a song my boys sing quite a bit - it is quite an upbeat song and it is a line from that. She had a nice run first time and worked well during the week, so stepped up. We think there is plenty of improvement, and she was green when she hit the front. She's having a nice blow there, but I liked her attitude. The horse came to her and she found again. Chris gave a good report, so that is always nice. She is (one for turf as well). We will put her away and we'll see for the beginning of the year - maybe start thinking of trials. She has shown us a bit at home, so we were thinking that she was well able to step up on her maiden and they did stretch five-and-a-half-lengths clear. It looks like that (she would get the mile), she hit the line strong even though she was green. The other horse came to her, and she was probably strongest at the line.

John Ryan (owner) is a big National Hunt man, a lot of horses with Tom (Cooper) and that, and used to be a former Forpadydeplasterer man as well. He has bred him and it is great to get a win for the mare as well. He ran well in Dundalk and paid the penalty a little bit for running well and not winning. He got a high mark one day for being second, he went up 3lb or 4lb. That's hard on them. I said that an ease in the ground today would be a big help to him and he had a nice draw. He travelled well, in all fairness. He'll get six (furlongs) no problem as well, so it is great. He is a hell of a lovely horse and it was me who messed up the last day (second at Bellewstown), as I told Robyn to hold him up. Watching that race, I knew I had made a mess. Today, there was a mess-up at the start as the horses slammed against the doors, so he got left a bit. Robyn said she slammed against the gates and then fell back, but eventually got out. He goes on every ground, we bred him ourselves and his dam won here. His brother (Beauty Waves) is a serious horse in Hong Kong and has won a Group 3 over there. This horse will go for something similar now, and he could go six furlongs too.

I thought he couldn't get beat in Mallow the last day and I do not know what happened, maybe he didn't get the six. He was as dead as a maggot and we blood tested him, it was one of those things. I honestly thought he'd do that three races ago but sometimes those sprinters can take a while to cop on. He used to be slow out and a bit of an eejit but he'll make a lovely horse next year as he's a big strong horse. He's maturing all the time. He could go for a similar race here on Sunday week.
