Comfort Lines it for Ado & Adam An aggregate of just 1.69 lengths covered the first eight home in the Melbourne Cup Carnival Handicap over seven furlongs at the Curragh, with victory going to Comfort Line (5/1). Owned and trained by Ado McGuinness, the nine-year-old passed the furlong pole in ninth before rattling home down the outside to lead the line.  A neck was the margin of victory over Avec Grand Plaisir, with a pair of noses back to Sherekiya and Kitte Bear. On start number 118, this was win number 11 for the hardy Alhebayeb veteran.  “I was lucky, I suppose. I jumped and got a lovely position and I was happy, he’s the type of horse that you don’t want to get too much daylight on too early as he can jam on the brakes fairly quickly,” said Caffrey. “I was happy enough following Ronny (Whelan, on Avec Grand Plaisir), I thought he was going to bring me everywhere. Chris (Hayes, on Sherekiya) came down the outside and I ended up getting caught behind him. "Thankfully I had enough gears to get back out and around him and he’s won well at the line. “He’s still very enthusiastic. Ado and the team do a great job with him, they keep him fresh and well.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
