Delacroix won the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown Park on Saturday afternoon as Aidan O'Brien maintained his stranglehold on the race with a third straight win.

The Ballydoyle supremo described as 'mind-blowing' the last-to-first swoop from Ryan Moore and Delacroix to win the Group 1 feature and no doubt bigger things are ahead for the Dubawi colt after his Derby disappointment at Epsom last month.

He wasn't the only Irish raider to make the journey at the weekend. Here's our look at some of the others.

  • Boonie Moon

The Jessica Harrington-trained Bonnie Moon paid a visit to Haydock on Saturday afternoon for the Class 2 bet365 Handicap over a mile and six furlongs. She was a 16/1 poke in the betting and had 5lb claimer Keithen Kennedy in the plate.

They were on the early pace but when push came to shove in the final quarter of a mile, the petrol light soon came on as they dropped to finish a well-held fifth behind the winner Pole Star for the Charlie Johnston team.

    Nuit

On the same card Henry De Bromhead took a pop at the Group 2 bet365 Lancashire Oaks with 25/1 chance Nuit, a five-race maiden stepping up in class for the Merseyside race.

She was up against the 114-rated Estrange, the 2/7 favourite for David O'Meara and Danny Tudhope in the Cheveley Park silks, and having been a touch keen in the early exchanges, Nuit was eventually last of the four to pass the winning post as the favourite dominated.

    Devil's Angel

Completing the interest at Haydock was Kevin Coleman's nine-year-old Devil's Angel in the Eachway Extra At bet365 Handicap over six furlongs.

He had won an apprentice contest at Navan in May but was rated 6lb higher in the ratings at Haydock and unable to land the 10th win of his career as he finished down the field.

    Delacroix, Camille Pissarro & Hotazhell

Delacroix produced the most remarkable late spurt to win the Coral-Eclipse, with three of the six-runner field hailing from Ireland.

Hotazhell helped set the pace for Harrington's charge but was found it tough late on as Camille Pissarro tried to run at favourite Ombudsman. His challenge was brief under Christophe Soumillon but coming home fastest of all was Delacroix under Moore as they edged past the Royal Ascot Group 1 winner in the shadows of the post.

    She's Quality & Saratoga Special

Also at Sandown, She's Quality for Jack Davison and Saratoga Special for Harrington were in the mix for the Group 3 Coral Charge over five furlongs.

At odds of 33/1, Saratoga Special was up on the speed early but faded, while She's Quality made the running and was game in front only to be overhauled by Rumstar inside the final furlong after they had pulled clear of everything else.

    Higher Kingdom

Ado McGuinness sent a couple of runners to Ayr on Sunday but he was out of luck. Higher Kingdom went off joint-favourite for the Book The Sounds Of Summer Racenight Classified Stakes over a mile but was never able to get into a threatening position under Adam Caffrey as they finished sixth.

    Sneddy Eddie & Weegeebear

Later in the afternoon, McGuinness' Weegeebear was a staying on seventh in the Sunday Roast At westernhousehotel Available Now Handicap over seven furlongs at Ayr, a contest in which Noel Kelly's Sneddy Eddie started favourite in first-time cheekpieces after winning at Gowran Park last month but found it tough going late on and finished fourth.
