Listowel are racing for seven days with a mixture of Flat and jumps action. Sunday’s action kicks off proceedings and is a seven-race all-jumps card, with a couple of handicap hurdles as well as maiden and novice races to look forward to. The feature is a handicap chase with 13 runners set to go to post.

The action kicks off at 14:28 and runs through to until 17:28 and our expert has provided a Lucky15 for Sunday’s action.

Sunday’s Tips

15:28 Listowel - Ar Aghaidh

16:28 Listowel - Waterford Whispers

16:58 Curragh - Jasko Des Dames

The second race on the card is a mares’ hurdle, and although there are only five runners, it is usually a race where a good level is required to win, as can be seen by looking at the previous five winners of the race.

Willie Mullins enjoyed his most recent success in this contest in 2022 but has two of the five runners and it is likely he will find himself back in the winner’s enclosure. Paul Townend is aboard Jalila Moriviere, who has run consistently well in her previous three races, including in Listed and Grade 3 company, and she can be expected to give a good account of herself once more.

The preference is however for the other Willie Mullins-trained runner, Adela Icon. Following a number of respectable efforts, she really took a step forward on her most recent start winning by 13 lengths. The race didn’t have as much depth as some of the races Jalila Moriviere has been running in, but the manner of the victory was seriously impressive and she can take another step forward now and make it back-to-back wins.

15:28 Listowel - Ar Aghaidh

This is a competitive mares handicap hurdle with 18 runners set to go to post. On the face of it the form of some looks much stronger than others, but it is one of the others who makes the most appeal.

Ar Aghaidh had been largely disappointing until her most recent run at Wexford. She wore cheek-pieces for the first time on that occasion, and she clearly benefitted from the addition of cheek-pieces, finishing runner-up by less than two lengths in a field of 13.

With those retained now, she can continue her good form.

16:28 Listowel - Waterford Whispers

The next race of interest is a novice chase with eight set to go to post, and a chance is taken on Waterford Whispers.

The now seven-year-old ran a cracker to finish second in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle in March 2024, a very good piece of form with the winner having performed consistently very well over fences since.

On his chase debut in December, Henry de Bromhead’s gelding was second behind Ile Atlantique, and the form of that contest has been working out well since.

Waterford Whispers did disappoint on his next start at Limerick just after Christmas and hasn’t been seen since, but provided he retains the ability that has been on display previously, he can prove himself too good for this field on this return to the track.

16:58 Curragh - Jasko Des Dames

Our final selection comes in the Kerry Dairy Ireland Handicap Chase and could cement a very good start to the week for Henry De Bromhead.

Jasko Des Dames didn't show his true colours at the Punchestown Festival, but did run a very good race to finish fifth in the Grand Annual Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

He is one of the youngest in the race and carries significantly more upside than a number of his rivals, and a replication of his Prestbury Park form will see him return to the winner’s enclosure.
