Shane Foley bagged a quick double at Dundalk today when Iron Lily stepped forward from his debut run to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.

The Jessica Harrington-trained son of Wootton Bassett had chased home Causeway at the Curragh earlier in the month and went to post a 9/4 shot to go one better this afternoon.

Adam Browne-Souza had to kick his irons out on Lamar Canyon after his saddle slipped early and he went to the front at halfway from early leader Evening Blues

Iron Lily picked off that rival a furlong-and-a-half down and held Evening Blues in the closing stages to record a length-and-a-quarter success.

Foley said: "He is (going the right way) - we have always liked him, we liked him before he went to the Curragh and he ran well and that was on heavy ground. He handled that well.

"Little bit cautious of the surface today, but he moved like a bird on it.

"He will be a nice horse for next year. He did things nicely and he's one to look forward to for next year.

"I think he definitely has (improved from the first day) and more so he has got stronger as well. You can see him there, he is a fine ball of a horse."
