A busy month for Irish racing continues with an afternoon jumps meeting at Downpatrick and the regular Friday evening Flat action under the lights at Dundalk.

The two Listed races from last Friday’s cancelled meeting at Dundalk have been added to this evening’s programme to form an eight-race card.

The action gets under way with the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Legacy Stakes at 4.50 and Ger Lyons is represented by Howd’yadoit and By The Lake as he bids to land this Listed sprint for the fifth time in seven years.

Aidan O’Brien is doubly represented by Frescobaldi and Controlled in his attempt to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Star Appeal Stakes (7.00) for a third successive year, while the Joseph O’Brien-trained Andab looks set to go off favourite for this seven-furlong juvenile event.

Ado McGuinness has six runners in total on the Dundalk card including Star Harbour who is seeking an eighth career win in the concluding Bar One Racing Bet 10 Get 50 Handicap (8.30).

“He was a bit unlucky a couple of times this year and he paid the price because he was down off a nice mark, got a few penalties for being second and third in less than a length behind the winner,” said the Lusk trainer.

"I think he ran a cracking race in Dundalk the last day (third in Red God Handicap), so we are looking forward to a big run.

"He was a bit disappointing Champions Weekend, but I think the ground just went against him."

Luker’s Tipple appears to have found a good opportunity to open his account at Downpatrick in the opening Randox Maiden Hurdle at 2.13, while Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy should continue their good record at the track with Pour Les Filles in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Hurdle (3.58).

Ian Donoghue has a couple of strong contenders on the card with Hitthehayson (4.30) and Small Town Hero (5.37) both ridden by Conor Stone-Walsh.

The going at Downpatrick is currently yielding, yielding to soft in places, following no measurable rain since declarations.
