Review GALWAY 12TH SEP

Chinese Whisper looked another top class prospect for Ballydoyle when taking his maiden in scintillating style at Galway on Tuesday.

Kieren Fallon made all on the son of Montjeu in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden for an easy four-and-a-half length victory.

The 8/11f, who was well backed in the morning, started to pull clear of his rivals two furlongs from home and Fallon could afford to ease down close home.

Paddy Power introduced the winner at 25/1 for next year's Vodafone Derby after the eye-catching performance.

Declan McDonogh moved five clear at the top of the jockeys table when partnering Tamazug to a comfortable win in the Donnelly's Of Barna Race.

The 4/5f hit the front before the turn in the conditions event and stayed on well down the straight to score by three-and-a-half lengths from Nastrelli.

'She stays very well and is very genuine,' said McDonogh of the Kevin Prendergast-trained winner.

Laywaan gave Dermot Weld yet another winner at Ballybrit when claiming the opening Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Maiden.

Shane Gorey produced the filly to lead at the furlong pole and she stayed on strongly to record a comprehensive four-and-a-half length win over Wall To Wall.

'It was well ridden and well deserved,' said Mark Weld, deputising for his father who is at the Keeneland Sales.

'Shane rode exactly as the boss conveyed. Hopefully she can go on now and pick up some black type.'

Ardenteggle Lad could head to Listowel after boucing back to form with a hard fought neck success over Always On Top in the Great Southern Hotels Galway Handicap.

'He won his maiden on heavy ground and lost his way since,' explained trainer John Shearman. 'The stiff mile today suited him.'

The Loughnane Meat Products Handicap also produced a tight finish with Thru'thechair getting the better of Balakan by half a length inside the final furlong.

Minnie Turbo flashed home on the outside to get up close home in the Brooks Galway Handicap Hurdle and could also turn out again at Listowel next week.

The jackpot went unclaimed and 44,192 is carried over to Sligo on Wednesday.
