The Kevin McManus Bookmaker Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary on Thursday features a competitive field, with Andy Slattery’s Smooth Tom and Sunchart among the notable entries.

Smooth Tom and Sunchart’s Galway Hurdle Ambitions

Smooth Tom and Sunchart are two of 12 declared for the feature at Tipperary on Thursday, the Kevin McManus Bookmaker Grimes Hurdle. While they have a bit to find on ratings with some of their rivals, the Andy Slattery-trained pair are capable performers, winning no less than 12 races between them. “They are both in good form. It is hard to separate the two of them at home and we are hopeful,” Brian Slattery, assistant trainer to his brother, commented. “We are thinking of the Galway Hurdle, so we'll see what happens. Sunchart won well the last day and hopefully there is a bit of an ease in the ground for him. Smooth Tom will definitely get an entry in the Galway Hurdle, and it is a possibility for Sunchart, who may not be as good going right-handed.”
