Capable chaser Daly Tiger reverted to hurdles for the first in three years with a win in the O'Kelly Brothers Demolition Hurdle at Limerick today, scoring for trainer Noel Meade, jockey Eoin Walsh and owners Gigginstown House Stud.

The eight year old chased home top-class Energumene in Cork's Grade 2 Hilly Way Chase on December 5 and today had his first run over the smaller obstacles since December 27, 2018.

Nine to four favourite Uhtred was an early faller in the race and in the closing stages, Daly Tiger was produced by Walsh to lead after the second last and in the end held on top beat Choice Of Words by two and a quarter lengths.

Afterwards jockey Walsh stated “it was a good battling effort and he was good and gutsy. The ground is very testing but he jumped super and I just wanted to take my time with him and let him get home, which is vital today.

“He was there when I needed him (jumping-wise) and it made the difference on that testing ground. He is very slick.

“He is a classy type of horse.”
