A look ahead to Navan tomorrow

Milsean is the star turn in the opening I.N.H. Stallion Owners EBF Maiden Hurdle at Navan on Sunday.

The Milan gelding, who won twice and finished second in three bumpers, has shown a real aptitude for getting his toe into the turf and with a course victory in the book, he should go very close for champion trainer Willie Mullins and Bryan Cooper.

Noel Meade's Snow Falcon has also put together three very respectable runs in his bumpers which yielded a win and two seconds. He will likely give the Mullins runner most to think about.

With 22 horses declared for the Navan Race Membership Club Now Available Handicap Hurdle, plenty of form study is required.

Inesperate has not been since pulling up at Punchestown in April 2012, but is worth a market check as he runs for Tony Martin and Ruby Walsh.

Meade's Zigger Zagger might find a bit of improvement for the fitting of a hood for the first time. He has shown enough to make his presence felt in this big field.

Stuart Crawford's Man With Van aims to improve his record of four wins from seven races when making his seasonal reappearance in the Proudstown Handicap Hurdle.

He has proved versatile over hurdles and fences with two successes in each sphere.

Crawford said: "We had to start him off and there's not many options as he's in the 130s over fences and hurdles. I was hoping he wouldn't be as far up the handicap.

"I'm hoping long-term that he'll be a horse for staying handicaps. He's still a novice over fences. He'll go for a better novice next time."
