Racing at Thurles this afternoon will be a sombre occasion with family and friends still coming to terms with the death of racecourse owner and manager Pierce Molony on Tuesday.

Molony was rightly proud of the track's durability through winter racing, and the going will be heavy for today's seven-race card beginning at 1.35pm.

Elsewhere racing takes place on the Polytrack at Dundalk tomorrow evening, while Punchestown is currently described as soft ahead of their fixture this Sunday.

The forecast is cold with wintry showers both today and tomorrow.
