Mr Dibbs (8/1) won the stamina test in the Solar Generation Handicap Hurdle over an extended 3m1f, with first-time blinkers working the oracle.

The seven-year-old gelding had to work hard to wear down Survivors Sister on the run-in, but he then faced a stern challenge in the closing stages from a staying-on Evans Secret

It was nip and truck between the pair, who raced almost track-width apart, and it was Mr Dibbs who held a definitive lead close home which was confirmed as a neck.

Evans Secret had to settle for second at 11/1 as Survivors Sister (25/1) weakened some eight and a-half lengths away in third.

Michael Kenneally said: "Sam (Curling) put a pair of blinkers on him and it made all the difference. He travelled sweetly, jumped well and was game to the line.

"I wasn't going to chase the clear leader, I was happy to sit where I was.

"I wasn't surprised to see Phillip (Enright, on runner-up Evans Secret) arrive upsides me, he rode this lad the last day. Phillip doesn't miss much!"
