Quest shows plenty of Speed to record 40/1 success Quest With Speed recorded his third career win when returning to form with a 40/1 surprise victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Handicap Hurdle at Navan. A change of tactics proved just the trick for the Shark Hanlon-trained gelding who was prominent throughout here under Gavin Brouder and asserted off a slow pace between the final two flights. A fine jump at the last sealed the issue as he kept on well on the run-in to score by a length and a half. Collaborative kept on best of the remainder to take the runner-up spot with Killaney King just keeping on one-paced to finish the same distance further back in third. The 7/2 favourite San Hilario completed the places in fourth. Hanlon said, “The boys had a right few quid on him, they got 66/1. I rang the lads last night and said to bring a few quid. "He ran in a Listed race the last time and he is 9lb lower over hurdles than he is over fences, and he wants heavy (ground). He has to have heavy. "The only thing I was a little bit doubtful about was that my horses are after being off the boil. It is only last week I worked horses and I was happy coming back with them. I haven't been happy for three months. "The last day was over fences, and he is as good over hurdles as he is over fences. You'll see him at Limerick over Christmas." The Bagnelstown trainer also gave an update on stablestar Hewick saying, “He has gone on a break because of the weather the way it is. "We went to Newbury and the ground was way too soft for him. He ran well, he was there at the second-last. "I decided he will go straight to Cheltenham for the Stayers (Hurdle). He runs well fresh and with the way the ground is at the moment, it could be March again before we get good ground!” Quotes by Michael Graham
