'Ready to unleash potential': Dundalk Lucky 15 on Wednesday Dundalk hosts an eight-race card under the lights on Wednesday, a typically competitive meeting from the Irish track, which is made up of three maidens, three handicaps and claimer. The action kicks off at 15:10 and concludes at 18:45 and our expert has his top four recommendations for the meeting. Wednesday’s Dundalk Tips 15:10 Dundalk - Heaven’s Wish 16:15 Dundalk - Limestone Red 17:15 Dundalk - Guardian Of Realm 18:15 Dundalk - Thirsty Owl 15:10 Dundalk - Heaven’s Wish Diego Dias can get on the scoresheet in the opener courtesy of Heaven’s Wish, who has run well on each of her three visits to this venue. The selection shaped nicely after a slow start when fourth of seven over 6f here on her debut in April and has posted two very creditable efforts over that same course-and-distance since, beaten a neck at odds of 22/1 in September and just half-a-length when again finding one too good last month. Headed inside the final half-furlong when last seen, it’s easy to see why her connections have opted to drop her to the minimum trip. 16:15 Dundalk - Limestone Red One win from 24 career starts is hardly inspiring for Limestone Red, but he’s run more good races than bad ones since joining Tracey Collins this year and is marginally preferred in an open handicap. The five-year-old is undoubtedly at his most effective at this track, his win coming over this course-and-distance in November 2023 when sporting first-time cheekpieces. He’s now 4lb lower in the weights and has looked on his way back to something like his best the last twice, keeping on for fourth in September and bettering that when finding only one too good last month. He ran to Racing Post Ratings of 62 and 63 on those occasions, suggesting he’s a major playing this afternoon off an official mark of 60. 17:15 Dundalk - Guardian Of Realm The majority of these are unexposed and open to improvement, but Guardian Of Realm has already shown a good level of ability and should make a bold bid under Colin Keane. The Ger Lyons-trained filly is a daughter of Kingman and a half-sister to four winners, namely Group 3 middle-distance scorer Flight Leader, and she made a bright start to her career when running to a Racing Post Rating of 80 when third over 7f here in October. She was a bit below that level when finishing second over this course-and-distance last month, but she still ran with plenty of promise, especially when noting how keen she'd been early on. 18:15 Dundalk - Thirsty Owl This has a really competitive look to it with a number of the runners holding clear winning claims. One of those is the Gavin Cromwell-trained Thirsty Owl, who shaped with plenty of encouragement when fourth over course-and-distance on his debut three weeks ago. A half-brother to a pair of winners, the best of them being Desert Falcon (6f-7f; RPR 102), he fetched 60,000gns as a breeze-up purchase earlier this year, but wasn’t seen until last month and had already been gelded. However, he attracted some each-way support, sent-off 11/1 from an opening 14s and he showed definite ability, keeping on steadily from mid pack to be beaten two-and-a-half lengths. He’s got ground to make up on Watch Tower from that meeting, but he’s entitled to improve considerably from that first outing and the Cromwell yard has just emerged from a lengthy spell in the doldrums.
