A dual Listed-winner and Grade 3-placed over hurdles in 2023/24, he missed 641 days prior to last November’s return and while well held this season, caught the eye here last time and is well handicapped at today’s distance. Mark Walsh is unable to do the weight on the selection but rides Goraibhmaithagat, who has obvious claims despite being 7lb higher than when scoring here last month. He's been as solid as a rock. It's brilliant for John and Sabrina (Daly), it's their first horse with me. Jim (Melia) and Sean and Kathleen who bred him had him with me to point-to-point and sell. We couldn't get a decent price for him in England and I said I'd get them a few pound back home so I was delighted for them. We think he'll make a nice chaser in time, we've thought that all along. He jumps really well and it's great to pick up a hurdle race on the way. The small field and having to do the donkey work was far from ideal for him. He's much better having somebody taking him along. It's just the way it panned out. He could go for the three-mile handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse over Easter.

we’re delighted and it was a great ride by Phillip. The plan was to ride him forward and if they take him on, they take him on. At Punchestown the last day, he got tied up in the middle of a bunch of horses and wasn’t comfortable at any stage. It was borderline whether we were going to run him as I said if the ground was drying out, there was no point as he has had leg trouble. In the past, we thought he wanted loose soft ground but maybe we’re wrong. There was a fair bunch of staying chasers coming to the last: they were all there and I couldn’t believe that had the boot to pick up again after jumping the last. he’ll get an entry in the Irish National and could be a horse for it. His race the last day in Punchestown was 3m4f and maybe he doesn’t stay that in soft ground but in ground like today’s, might be happy over it. He wasn’t pulling up at the line anyway.

It's great to get a winner, it's been a while since we had one. Mark gave her a lovely ride. He said they went very quick in front and he felt it just fell apart. . She is a nice mare going forward. She is a little bit babyish and made one or two novicey mistakes, which I didn't think she would, but I suppose they were going a good speed and it was her first time over fences. . It was a race for horses rated 120 or less over hurdles, so a lot of the higher class horses were ruled out. We'll have to see where she fits in as the season goes on. . To be honest if I was Sam, I’d have followed Ballygunner Castle instead of him following us, and pushed him along. They went no gallop though and it was a no-race, really so that's why he is riding them. They quickened over the last two, but the one thing I do like about our horse, from the second-last to the line - even after the last - he dropped his head and showed a good attitude. We’ll go for the Albert Bartlett now. I think the race could suit him, and he could have an each-way chance in a race like that, with a lead, coming at a few horses.

That’s my first winner on the track, I’ve had 24 in point-to-points. He’s kind of a yard favourite. I suppose three miles is his thing and when you get into heavy ground that’s mainly his thing. He’s very good on heavy ground, he can go the same speed on soft as he can on hard. He’s one-paced, but stays going. We’ll try for another hurdle and see how that goes after today. He might have won too far, but we’ll take it. It’s our first winner so we’re not going to complain. Darragh is my brother so it’s a family success. It’s all in-house which keeps the costs down!. I just want to say a word about Mikey O’Sullivan. It’s an awful tragedy — there are no words for it.
