That was great. Sean said he was a bit flat to the boards early doors and he let him find his rhythm jumping and he was able to sneak into it at the third last. It was pretty clear sailing from there. He’s improved. I was saying to Sean beforehand that there was a handicap hurdle in Navan last year, the Proudstown, and the winner was Mark Fahey’s horse (Flicker Of Hope) who is going for the Irish National. We were second and Oscar’s Brother was third, so we were the only horse that hadn’t gone and done something over fences yet. That was strong form and it’s all come together now. I suppose over the trip the slower ground helped, definitely. I think ground-wise he’s fairly versatile. He had a tongue-tie on today as well so that probably helped with the slower ground. The plan was the National Hunt Chase over 3m5f at Cheltenham. He was 125 today and that’s 145 so that should be still on the cards. He’ll have a bit more weight now but we’ve a great pot behind us so we can’t complain.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed A.P. Kelly, rider of Win Some Lose Some, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. The Raceday Stewards also received photographic evidence from the IHRB Veterinary officer. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered all the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied the rider was in breach of R.10.3(g)(frequency) and R10.3(f)(force) and having considered his clean record on both breaches, they suspended him for three racedays regarding R10.3(g) and for two days regarding R10.3(f)
The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident on the run to the second fence where it appeared Where's My Jet, ridden by B. Hayes, got tight for room. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Raceday Stewards that Kinturk Kalanisi trained by Thomas Gibney had blood at both nostrils post race.
An extended handicap steeplechase for five years old and upwards that have run at least four times in steeplechases up to and including 18th January 2026
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase or steeplechases after calculation of the handicap shall carry any penalty or penalties which may be allotted by the Handicapper.
