Formscan By John O'Riordan - Having gone close on his last couple of starts, the Gordon Elliott-trained PATS CHOICE can strike for the first time over fences. The form of his Fairyhouse second looks very strong in the context of this race, while he was only just denied on his most recent outing at Ballinrobe last month. Downthecellar is a real course specialist, with three of his four career wins having been achieved at this venue. Although now 11lb higher than when last winning, the Edward O'Grady-trained gelding could be rejuvenated by a return visit. Freddie Robdal went up 3lb for a narrow win over course and distance last time but that weight rise is offset by Mike O'Connor here. The locally trained six-year-old holds strong claims.
