Formscan By Gary Carson - SAMCRO's champion hurdle aspirations have been dealt a couple of serious blows but he is fancied to step up here and deliver a performance. At this track back in February he produced a scintillating show to land the Deloitte Novice Hurdle. It was a touch disappointing the way he folded against Buveur D'air in Newcastle last time but connections have huge belief in him and obviously feel he can be a real player over two miles this season. If he can reproduce what he showed here as a novice he's the one to beat today. Obviously Melon has the form in the book having been second in the Champion Hurdle last season. He hadn't really lived up to his reputation until then but ran a cracker when going down by a neck to Buveur D'air. He hasn't been seen since falling at Punchestown, when moving into contention, but is sure to be fit and ready for this test. Willie Mullins also has Sharjah in the field and he has to be respected having won the Morgiana at Punchestown last month. There is a question mark over how strong that form is as Faugheen doesn't look the force of old over two miles. Supasundae was no match for Apple's Jade on his return at Fairyhouse but connections expect him to come on for the run and he has to come into calculations. He had a terrific campaign last season and proved himself a top class operator.
