Formscan By Gary Carson - Another cracking renewal of this race and ROMEO COOLIO (7) gets a chance to stake his claim as a Gold Cup prospect. The Kayf Tara gelding rattled off a hat-trick of Grade 1 wins as a novice last season but his jumping let him down badly when stepped up to this distance at Cheltenham. He showed real class to win over trips shorter than ideal last term and can blossom now over three miles. Heart Wood was chalked up as early favourite for this race and the impressive Ryanair Chase winner commands utmost respect on his return. Old favourite Banbridge has had a spin on the Flat to leave him right for this and he is entitled to play a big part.%0A%0A

Quotes on Affordale Fury (IRE)
It’s fabulous. Philip (Polly) has been very lucky with me with the couple of horses he’s had. We haven’t too many, but the couple of horses we have turned to gold. When this fella was second in the (2023) Albert Bartlett as a novice hurdler, we were really looking forward to him as a chaser. He won his novice chase and then things went wrong on us, and he missed the whole of the next season. He was sort of left in no man’s land. I was kind of saving him last season for the Irish National and he would have got into it. He obviously would have been hard enough to beat in it but things went wrong again. After Affordale Fury (IRE) finished 1st at Leopardstown on Sun, 28th Dec 2025 3m Chase Yielding

Quotes on Banbridge (IRE)
We didn't expect him to win, but thought it'd be a nice place for him to get the season off to a start. He really went through the race with great enthusiasm and he won snug. We are having a think about an American option for him and he also has some options at home. We'll have a chat with Ronnie and see what he'd like to do. It was just great to see him come back and show that enthusiasm. He likes to win races. After Banbridge (IRE) finished 1st at Gowran Park on Tue, 1st Sep 2026 1m 6f Flat Maiden Yielding

Quotes on Croke Park (IRE)
He’s been busy enough and probably doesn’t need to run again before Cheltenham. I don’t think he wants real winter heavy ground. He maybe didn’t jump as well as he did the last day. Sam (Ewing) said he slipped going into the first. The second horse didn’t lose much in defeat either, probably more of a test will suit him. He was well up after the line. Even when he won the Martin Pipe in Cheltenham he looked like a real stayer. As he’s named, there will be Better Days Ahead. After Croke Park (IRE) finished 1st at Leopardstown on Thu, 26th Dec 2024 3m Novice Chase Good to Yielding

Quotes on Fleur In The Park (IRE)
Cian said he dragged his shoulder getting up on Fleur In The Park and I'd say he popped his shoulder. When you win a Grade 1 as a novice, you'd think it would be hard to win a race this season, but this is grand and he was only 80 or 85% fit today. Cian said he had a blow at the final fence, although he was fitter than I thought he was. It was a good performance as he gave weight to race-fit Blood Destiny, who was rated 156. We'll either go for the John Durkan (Punchestown) or the race in Down Royal (BetVictor Envoi Allen Champion Chase) next and then maybe the King George (Kempton). We'll see as we go along and he'll have three races before Christmas, and three after. He would love Kempton as he has pace for 2m4f and stays three miles. We'll dream away and see, and the next day will tell us a lot. Margaret's (O'Rourke, owner) husband Padraig is from up the road and is a racecourse director, but isn't here today as he isn't well at the moment, so this is a tonic. After Fleur In The Park (IRE) finished 1st at Gowran Park on Sat, 3rd Oct 2026 2m 4f Chase Good to Yielding

Quotes on Romeo Coolio (GB)
I was on the back foot really the whole way from there. I suppose his stamina kicked in down to the last and he probably got a bit lonely in front. To be fair to the mare (Kargese), she was good and hardy to get back at him . He does (have the heart of a lion), he is very tough. I was very happy with his jumping, I thought it was a lot sharper today until the ditch down the back. I met the next one lovely and I kind of just let him at it himself, thinking he would come and he just put in another little short one. Thankfully, he got it done anyway. I suppose it is (relief) a bit when you are coming into the weekend thinking he is probably your best chance of a winner. Obviously, we had a great day yesterday, but I suppose with these good horses you just want them to get over the line. They went a good gallop, the pedal never came off. They went very fast. Our lad needs every bit of the trip, he was flat out. The mare had us at it. He made a few mistakes, but he’s very gutsy and he digs deep. He pulled up when he got to the front then and I was glad the line came when it did. It’ll be interesting to see what Jack says. I’d say Jack maybe idled a bit as well, he thought he was home and hosed. He should have kept going, but thankfully we held on. They are great lads and big supporters of Cullentra. This horse was bought to be a stayer, we’re hoping he’ll go the whole way. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him stepping out in trip now.
