Formscan By Tom Weekes - FOXROCK was a smart 160 rated chaser in his prime in 2015 and while he has yet to show that sort of form in his two hunter chase wins, comes here fit and well and likely to figure at the business end. He failed to build on his high class Grade 1 form which saw him finish a 1L third in the 2015 Lexus Chase, but seemed to retain at least some of his old sparkle when winning at Down Royal and Thurles recently. This is a much stronger race today but he comes here with race fitness on his side. On The Fringe, winner of this race back in 2011, has been one of the all-time great hunter chasers and this year goes in search of a remarkable triple Cheltenham/Aintree/Punctestown Festival treble. However since 2011, he has failed in four attempts to win this race and today comes here without any prep run, which is clearly a cause for concern. Salsify, winner of this race in 2012/13 is himself one of hunter chasing’s greats, having won the 2012 and 2013 Foxhunters Chases at Cheltenham. He is now 12 though and his reappearance run at Thurles latest was a poor effort and he will need to prove his old sparkle here. Wish Ye Didnt is a useful banks’ mare but might struggle to win this while Staker Wallace, who had shown some useful hurdles form prior to his point to point win last month, has a little to prove again more experienced rivals here and might benefit from the experience.
