Formscan By Alan Magee - CRECORA HILLS won a Naas handicap hurdle and opened her account over fences at the same track when readily taking a 2m4f handicap in November. She was subsequently placed here off a revised mark and may have found a decent opportunity to add to her tally. Nine Graces has won both over hurdles and fences at this venue including an impressive success over a similar trip early last year. She indicated a return to form here last month and may pose more of a threat than Sophia Rose who steps up in trip after a creditable fourth at the Limerick Christmas meeting. Gaoth Chuil is another to consider.

We were kind of expecting that, she’s very fit. When she was running over hurdles, off a higher mark, three miles on soft ground was what she wanted. Her jumping was a revelation there, she was very quick. She’s not the biggest mare but she’s just very accurate. She might squeeze in, off her revised mark, into something nice - a nice, staying handicap chase like the Leinster National in Naas. She’s a winter soft-ground mare. I’d be hoping next year that she could make up into a graded mare over a trip. I’m delighted for Finny, who is working full-time for us. it was very straightforward and she jumped well. We schooled her on Friday morning and were delighted with her. She jumped very well over the five fences, she only went up over them the once but jumped them lovely. She travelled, they went steady. The drop of rain did no harm last night, we were praying for a bit of rain. Her jumping was never great from the word go. Even before she came to me I believe she got more schooling than any horse in the country. She was never a natural but it came to her. When she came to us first we did a lot of schooling with her and took a lot of time. I think she’s my fifth first-time-out winner this season since Big Debates started in September.
