Bell Ex Too up and running over flights
I told Paddy to be in the first two or three, but he was a little slowly away from some of his hurdles and the track didn't suit him, he'd prefer a more galloping track. He clipped a heel as well and had to come around them after the last, so it was a good performance, considering all that. He might go for a winners' of one at Punchestown next, it's a race we've won before. Robbie Power did a good job with another horse of mine, Game Point, so I sent this horse up to him to get him off the ground, and he loved him. He jumped economically today, but he'll jump better off a better gallop at a bigger track. He's a fine, strapping horse, probably over 17 hands and with legs like a hunter, and he'll be better on softer ground. I think he can win on the Flat too, maybe over a mile and six (furlongs).

She's a good-looking mare and her last couple of runs, on heavier ground, had been encouraging. She's probably strengthened up a little bit for her break. Mikey got her into a nice rhythm, she jumped and travelled super all the way. He said the further she went, the better she was going and she is a mare that will probably appreciate a bit further. Mikey's a very solid rider. He works very, very hard, he's in every day and when he gets his opportunities, he takes them.

I told Niall to be handy and, if there was no pace, to let him on. I had my eye on Niall for a long time, he's a good claimer and rides to instructions as much as possible. He said he hung left all the way, and he probably got beat in Sligo for going left after the last, so he might be a better horse at a left-handed track. We'll see what the handicapper does, but he jumps fences well, so we have that option too. He's a straightforward horse at home, my daughter Aibhe rides him, but he gets a bit fresh when he comes racing. He'll handle soft ground, but not winter soft. I've about 18 or 19 in training, and have a couple of nice unraced mares to come out.

I don't know how good a race it was, but she jumped well and I'm delighted. She was a nice mare to get and JP (McManus) and Frank (Berry) said to take my time with her. She was good and tough from the last. I've better facilities now and am hoping that a better quality of horse will follow. John Ormonde put in a five-furlong sand and fibre gallop, I've a proper schooling strip over almost three furlongs and another deep woodchip gallop of two furlongs, plus we've built a new barn.

It was straightforward and, in fairness, he was very unlucky the last day at Roscommon (third). Adam had to ride him the way he did then, just to give him a bit of experience, but he got wiped out. It was a small field here, and he kept things simple.
