Permission was given for Crooked Path (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Jumping the first hurdle, Sunny South West (IRE), placed fourth, jumped sharply left-handed bumping Norman Fletcher (GB), causing it to fall.
John Barbour (GB), unplaced; Can Happen (IRE), placed fifth, and Cloonainra (IRE), unplaced, were all hampered by the faller.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Rounding the bend at the top of the hill, Al Gasparo (FR), unplaced, stepped left-handed towards the rail briefly tightening Cloonainra (IRE), unplaced.
An enquiry was held to consider interference after jumping the final hurdle involving, East India Express (IRE), placed second, ridden by Freddie Gordon and the winner, Frontier Prince (GB), ridden by Jack Hogan.
Gordon was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as after jumping the final hurdle, he allowed his mount to drift right-handed whilst using his whip in his left hand, initially bumping Frontier Prince (GB), whereupon he continued to use his whip in the left hand, which eventually resulted in Frontier Prince (GB) becoming briefly short of room against the rail.
Following the race, James Bowen reported that La Pinsonniere (FR), unplaced, jumped ponderously and the Veterinary Officer reported that Crooked Path (IRE), placed third, lost its right fore shoe.
