THE VIRGIN BET A GOOD BET FILLIES' HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) (GBBPLUS RACE) Permission was given for Glenna (IRE) and KELLY BUM to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching one and a half furlongs out involving the winner, Kelly Burn (GB), ridden by Ashley Lewis, and Cracking Beauty (GB), placed second, ridden by Nicola Currie.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Kelly Burn (GB)’s placing, given the distance from the finish at which it occurred and the distance lost from the carry, Cracking Beauty (GB), having been taken off its intended line, had headed Kelly Burn (GB) before Kelly Burn (GB) regained the lead shortly before the finish, winning by a nose.
The interference was found to be accidental as Kelly Burn (GB), having initially taken a legitimate gap, stepped left-handed, taking Cracking Beauty (GB) off its intended line.
Following the race, Kieran Shoemark reported that Liveinthelight (GB), placed fifth, hung left-handed.
