The winner, Solo Saxophone (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at York on 9 October 2021 where the gelding finished sixth of ten runners, beaten by 11 ¾ lengths.
Ben Haslam explained that Solo Saxophone (IRE) was not suited by the Good to Soft, Soft in places going on its previous run at York as in his opinion, the ground had been holding and riding tacky.
He added that the gelding had appreciated the Good ground on a more galloping track here at Newmarket on this occasion and had further benefitted from racing in a smaller field.
His explanation was noted and Solo Saxophone (IRE) was routine tested.
The performance of Royaume Uni (IRE) which started second-favourite and finished last of the five runners, was considered.
The representative of Gary Moore explained that the gelding had ran flat following three races in quick succession.
Their explanation was noted.
