City Of Dubai shines brightest in the Killarney sun
He’s a nice horse. He’s a horse that we’ve had a lot of regard for all year and he just came here ready to run. I thought if he did things right, he could do what he did and if it went wrong, he could finish fourth, that’s exactly what I told the owners this morning. There is a good history in the race and if we can be half as good as some of the previous winners, I’d be happy. His mother is by Galileo and he’s by Mehmas, I think he’ll get a mile-and-a-quarter as a three-year-old. He’s a big scopey horse with a staying pedigree. Today was a start and I’d like to take another step, if we can, before I get into anything. I think he’s very much a three-year-old so we’ll see how we go.
O'Brien and Lordan bounce back to win at Killarney
Three up for Johnny Soda
He was a breeze-up horse from last year, I bought him off Ian McCarthy,. I was told he was a very nice horse and he’s proved it now. I thought we weren’t well handicapped at the start of the year but he’s done really well. He’s a decent horse and I think he can progress more; he could turn into a premier handicap horse before we’re finished. He’s a big huge horse. Adam was very good on him. He said there was going to be no pace. He thought Dylan might make it and he didn’t give him a freebie, he sat on his girth. Dylan kicked early off the bend but he cruised into the race. I’m very happy. It’s a great bunch of lads that own him. Most of them are from Dublin. They’ll be happy men today so I’m delighted.
Molto Amichi makes all to win at odds-on
It’s more of a relief than anything else. It’s been a while coming and unfortunately horses like him tend to get a reputation maybe for being ungenuine and it wouldn’t be well deserved in his case. He’s been second five times and third and fourth another four times, I think. We were just wondering if it was ever going to happen. We’ve employed a little bit more positive tactics with him. We did in Leopardstown the last day but he just hit a soft patch of ground about half-a-furlong from home and it stopped him in his tracks. The ground was beautiful here today and he did it handy enough in the end.
