Permission was given for Malinheadsearovers (IRE) to wear a red hood to post and to be mounted in the chute.
Zamond (FR) was kicked at the start by another runner.
Having been checked at the start by the Veterinary Surgeon, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
Shortly after the start, a free running Malinheadsearovers (IRE), which was later pulled up, ran onto and subsequently clipped the heels of Pittsburg (IRE), unplaced, causing Malinheadsearovers (IRE) to stumble, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference entering the first bend after the start, involving Malinheadsearovers (IRE), which was later pulled up, ridden by David Noonan; and Vocal Duke (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Alan Doyle.
Henry Brooke, the rider of Heart Above (GB), placed fourth, was also interviewed but found not to be involved.
The interference was found to be accidental as a free running MALINSHEADSEAROVERS (IRE) edged left-handed causing Vocal Duke (IRE) to become crowded for room on the rail.
Following the race, William Maggs reported that Foxwood (IRE), which was pulled up, was never travelling.
