The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr O.T. Gilligan, rider of Rockonfamouslee, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the whip Regulation. Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards received photographic evidence from the IHRB Veterinary Officer. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Mr O.T. Gilligan was in breach of R.10.3(g)(frequency) and R.10.3(f)(force) and having considered his clean record in both these regards, they suspended him for four racedays

For this meeting the Raceday Stewards suspended the "starting procedures for tape starts" and the IHRB suspended Rule 208(i) and Rule 209(i) Prior to racing the Raceday Stewards granted permission for Races 2, 3, 4 and 7 to be run over an amended distance of 2 miles 11 yards. Race 5 to be run over 2 miles 5 furlongs and 100 yards and Race 6 to be run over 2 miles 7 furlongs and 110 yards due to operational reasons
An I.N.H. flat race for four years old colts and geldings only that have not won a race under any N.H. Rules or Rules of Racing (excluding Academy Hurdles and 3-y-o Junior N.H. Hurdles) Weights - 11st 10lbs. Riders - Qualified Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules. Professional Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules (other than Apprentices) who have not lost the right to claim the 7lb allowance under Rule 52 (up to and including 20th October) may also ride in this race.
