An enquiry was held into the start and the circumstances surrounding the withdrawal of Big Time Rascal (GB), drawn 4, trained by Michael Attwater and ridden by William Carson.
The rider, the Starter, and a Stalls Handler were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
The Stalls Handler explained that the lead-rope had got caught in the gelding’s bit ring, and in the process of trying to release it Big Time Rascal (GB) had ducked under the front gate causing it to be withdrawn by the Starter.
The Starter reported following its withdrawal, Big Time Rascal (GB) could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
