Trainer Kiely registers first winner
she’s a lovely mare and I had the race mapped out from last week. She needed to have a run in Cork to qualify and while I know it’s the wrong thing to do running them six days later, she licked her pot on Sunday night and I freshened her up. I’m in Stradbally, Co. Waterford so use the beach every day. She was rolling and bucking so I said I’d declare her and see. Today’s race was perfect and she qualifies for the Weatherbys bonus, so this is a fair pot. We only have her 10 months, she’s a classy kind of a mare and when she came out of the ring unsold at the Derby Sale, we followed her down and bought her. I’d have 12 to 15 horses in the whole time, four or five pre-trainers and a couple for the track. A nice few owners have come back to me recently, I have the licence since last year and I’m only getting going. Dylan is my cousin, he’s back from England where he rode a few winners.

Mar off the mark for Shark
She was always capable of doing it but she’s quirky,. She was a 90-rated Flat mare, when she decides to go she goes but when doesn’t she doesn’t. You’ll have a good day and a bad day with her. The other horse took her on but Gary knew she had a bit of speed so he gave her a breather down the far side. He said before he jumped the second last it was over. She’s a right mare but she’s very quirky. My heart is broke with her!. My horses are just starting to come. It’s my first winner for Bronsan Racing, they sent her to me from Jessica Harrington’s. In fairness Jessie was very good and told me everything they did with her and it worked for me as well.
Gamigin bags a sixth win
he likes the small, handy tracks, he is what he is and it wasn’t the strongest race in the world. He’s a wee summer ground horse, he’s back to himself now and ran a nice race today. The cut in the ground probably helped too. He’s a grand horse, has won plenty of races in that grade and has been a good servant. We’ll pick something similar and hopefully the handicapper is realistic and isn’t too sore on him.

Smart hurdler Workahead wins well on chasing debut
I’m delighted with that and I hoped he might do that. He’s a class horse and it’s lovely to see him back to form. He was really attacking his fences and when Darragh’s on board, they generally don’t have an option! He said he jumped brilliantly and Darragh was brilliant on him. It’s lovely for the Moloneys. We wanted to just see how he’d take to fences, obviously we’re delighted with that and now we can go home and make a plan. There is a race in Roscommon so whether we have one go at that or not I don’t know. You’d like to get a break into him as well but we might go once more. We’ll see what everyone wants to do.

De Bromhead completes Wexford double
I’m delighted for the syndicate as it’s their first horse with us and Conor Hayes recommended the mare to them. John (Gleeson) gave her a super ride and she’s a lovely mare, so there is plenty to look forward to with her. She was made favourite in the end but she had to go and do it and I thought she stuck at it well. I thought John was very positive on her. We’ll give her a break now but we’ll have her back earlier as she definitely prefers a bit of nice ground. She’ll go hurdling, she’s already had a couple of nice runs over hurdles.
