The Veterinary Officer reported that an employee of Jonjo and A.
J O’Neill, the trainer of Clondaw Royale (IRE), had brought a type of soothing cream into the racecourse stables.
The trainer’s representative, Lisa Cook (Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer) and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed.
Being satisfied that the gelding had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, the Stewards allowed Clondaw Royale (IRE), to run, and ordered the gelding to be routine tested.
They further confiscated the substance and ordered that it should also be routine tested.
A report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving the winner, Solar System (FR), ridden by Michael Nolan and I Am Max (IRE), placed second, ridden by Ryan Mania.
The Stewards could not be satisfied that, with an uninterrupted run to the finish that I Am Max (IRE) would have finished in front of Solar System (FR), as the interference was minimal, with the second-placed horse losing very little ground and no momentum and Solar System (FR), always holding to win by a short-head and therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
Nolan was cautioned for careless riding as he failed to take sufficient steps to prevent his mount from drifting left- handed lightly bumping I Am Max (IRE), and moving the gelding marginally off its intended line.
Entering the bend leaving the back straight Leading Choice (IRE), unplaced, lugged marginally left- handed causing Casual Observer (IRE), placed fifth, to be short of racing room, which in turn caused Thanksforthehelp (FR), placed third, to be moved left-handed.
This in turn resulted in the winner, Solar System (FR), being crowded for room and its rider having to take back off of Blue Fin (IRE), unplaced.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Thanksforthehelp (FR), placed third, had lost its right-hind shoe.
Tom Bellamy reported that Rockadenn (FR), unplaced, hung left-handed.
