Quinta Do Lago 'just loves jumping'
I was a little worried that he lacked that bit of experience against horses from the Flat. He looked like he was beaten turning in, but he put his head down and came through a tight gap between horses. He just loves jumping and Donagh said he’s only going to keep on improving. Fair play to the team who have had a lot of patience with him. He had a setback as a two-year-old and it’s all paid dividends now. When the Academy Hurdles came out we said we’re not going to run on the Flat and we’d wait for that. We’ll take baby steps and he may go for a winners of one at Fairyhouse after Christmas. We’re going to aim towards Cheltenham, but we’ll see how he comes out of this first.
Santo Sospir toughs it out in Punchestown
Kitzbuhel a possible for Limerick Grade One over Christmas
He needed that. It was a nice performance, he jumped economically and Paul was happy that he’d improve from that. We’ll look for a race after Christmas maybe the one at Limerick (Grade 1 Faugheen Novice Chase). Kaid D’Authie ran well and I’d say a longer trip. He jumps well, gallops, and covers a lot of ground. He just needed the run as well.
Oscars Brother upwardly mobile over fences
We’ve always liked him. He did well over hurdles, and we always hoped he’d be a better chaser. I’ve been keeping my eye on this race for a long time. I remember there was only three runners in it last year and thinking it would be a nice race to aim for. He’s had a month in between each run over fences which has been ideal. He’s a very straightforward horse and we like to ride him positively. I think he jumped better the last day, but he got the job done. It’s disappointing for us that they have got rid of the three mile novice chase at Leopardstown. Limerick is 2m5f and it will probably be heavy ground so that might suit him, and we could travel as well. Staying races is his thing and there is plenty to look forward to. I still think there is loads left in him and he’s always fresh after his races. I don’t think we have got to the bottom of him.
Elliott and Kennedy double up with Dee Capo
Leopardstown at Christmas likely next for Morgiana winner Lossiemouth
She was very good. The race was run at an even pace on heavy ground and she did what she needed to do. We weren’t going to hold her up today. I didn’t see any point in holding her (up) for the race that was in it. We let her out to gallop, see how she is, and put her right for the next time. They didn’t go anything like the pace they went at Kempton last year, but we don’t want to light her up too much. As a four-year-old she was way too free. Leopardstown at Christmas would look the obvious place to go. She fell there before and took a chance at the fourth last today, but hopefully she doesn’t do something like that again. We were very disappointed with Irancy (in remote fourth). Mark (Walsh) said the ground when he came in, but I don’t think so. He was beaten way too early.
