THE WHITSBURY MANOR STUD MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 4) (GBB RACE) Permission was given for Fozzy Osbourne (GB) and Sheik Yerbouti (GB) to be mounted in the chute and to go early to post.
Shortly after the start, having received a bump from the left-hand side, Speransky (FR), unplaced, became keen and had to move left-handed, to avoid the heels of Sheik Yerbouti (GB), unplaced, taking Vichenza (GB), placed third, and Upper Hendersyde (GB), placed second, off their intended lines.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no offence was involved and that it did not improve the placing of Speransky (FR).
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start, involving the winner, Golden Brown (IRE), ridden by Ashley Lewis, Imagine That (GB), unplaced, ridden by Nicola Currie and Vichenza (GB), placed, third, ridden by Marco Ghiani.
Lewis was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he moved his mount right-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear, causing Imagine That (GB), to be taken off its intended line, subsequently bumping Vichenza (GB), causing it to become tight for room and its rider having to take a check.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong, involving SKEIK YERBOUTI, unplaced, ridden by Jack Doughty, Whitesnake (GB), unplaced, ridden by Jack Mitchell, Imagine That (GB), unplaced, ridden by Nicola Currie, Red Moon (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Charles Bishop and Speransky (FR), unplaced, ridden by George Bass.
The Stewards deemed the interference to be accidental in that Sheik Yerbouti (GB) lugged left-handed, at the same time as Imagine That (GB), shifted slightly right-handed, causing Whitesnake (GB), that had already committed to the gap, to become short for room and have to take a check, resulting in Red Moon (IRE) and Speransky (FR) to be taken of their intended lines.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Speransky (FR), unplaced, lost its left-fore shoe.
