Prior to this race, Tom Lacey was asked to explain why he was running GINNY’S DESTINY (IRE) here at Chepstow on going described as Good, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Warwick on 31 March 2022 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that in his opinion, official descriptions are subjective and the description of Good ground at Warwick, is different to going described as Good at Chepstow, and GINNY’S DESTINY (IRE) is better suited to Chepstow.
Rounding the bend leaving the home straight, Sams Comet (GB), unplaced, shifted left, when running greenly, approaching the crossing resulting in Bullets Hill (IRE), placed fourth, making contact with the rail and becoming unbalanced for a number of strides but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of I Am Rocco (GB), which finished unplaced, was considered.
The representative of Nicky Henderson could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of I Am Rocco (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
