Darling Du Large (FR) collided with the rail on the way down to the start.
Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the mare was deemed fit to race.
The performance of Espion Du Chenet (FR), which started second-favourite and finished seventh, beaten by 49¾ lengths, was considered.
It was noted that Louise G Lyons could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance on this occasion other than a report from the rider that Espion Du Chenet (FR) weakened quickly from the third last fence.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Harry Skelton reported that Antunes (GB), placed eighth, made a mistake at the first fence down the back on the final circuit and was never travelling thereafter.
