She’s a mare that hadn’t fulfilled her potential over fences verses what I’d seen from her over hurdles. I was conscious not to set it up for Paul and save my own petrol in parts. The race mapped out perfectly for him and my filly still managed to come out on top. We went good even fractions for the first two miles and were able to get a breather in. A great jump at the third last gave me a chance and of the two mistakes at the last mine was more minor which allowed me to land galloping a bit faster and got away to win nicely. The ground is pretty dead. We had a lot of rain over the past week but there is fantastic grass and the course in good condition. A strong wind and a bit of sun today has left it sticky. Fairyhouse takes a good round of jumping and the best horse usually wins.

Since Christmas he’s really relaxed in himself and chilled out. He’s improving all the time and has done it very well. He’s entered in the Grade 1 three-mile (Irish Mirror) Novice Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival so we’ll have a chat with the owners and see. He handled that ground well today and hopefully he’ll be a nice chaser in time. He’s a half-brother to Churchstonewarrior so the family are lucky for me.

Fahey seals Fairyhouse double via Tiger Bay Queen
I thought an awful lot of her and we ran her at Gowran on Thyestes Chase day (in 2022) and came home disappointed that she didn’t win. We gave her time off and started her back in a schooling hurdle at Tipperary last October and she genuinely won it by a hurdle. She got a very bad overreach and it held me up until now. I wanted to get a run into her and give her a summer’s break. She can be keen, but Jamie gave her a great ride. She’s very, very good and is different gravy over a hurdle.
