The winner, Jepeck (IRE), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Chepstow on 4 December 2021, where the gelding finished seventh of eleven, beaten 29¾ lengths.
Anthony Honeyball explained that Jepeck (IRE) appreciated being able to dictate the race on favourable Soft, Heavy in Places going.
The gelding was routine tested.
The performance of Crossing The Bar (IRE), which started favourite and which was pulled up, was considered.
Philip Hobbs explained that the gelding was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Soft, Heavy in Places on this occasion, and would prefer a quicker surface.
