O'Brien juvenile looks Star Prospect on debut
Stag Night holds on to win for Lee and McCreery
He deserved that, he’s been consistent here this year,. I must thank Brendan Curley who was in this morning fixing up his feet. I’m delighted for him and for the lads in the yard, they look after him. He’s a favourite in the yard. I told Billy to sit him in today and I’m glad he listened to my instructions and did the total opposite!. He said he hit the gates really well and he said if he had pulled him back he would have been wasting what he had already gotten. He had them all, bar one, stretched at halfway. He’s a good, honest, oul divil. The only thing that’s stopping him are his feet. He’s like a fella with bunions or something. He gets little sores on his feet and he backs off when the ground gets quicker. To me he’d like quicker ground but he can’t handle it, he gets quarter cracks. We’ll look for another five furlongs here, because it’s the best prize-money in the country. He likes it here so why not.

Bint Majestic Roi another winner for in-form Slattery
She was bred to be a mile-and-a-quarter filly and we were training her that way,. Then we started working her this year and she was leading a few horses. Suddenly they couldn’t get to her so we said ‘maybe this one is a sprinter’. We bought her for six grand last year in the Newmarket sales. She has a good pedigree, she’s by Ghaiyyath and it’s all stamina. The dam is a half-sister to Hi Riyal, who was second in a Guineas. We’ll keep tipping away and see where she ends up. We own her ourselves, she runs in my nephew William’s colours. If someone comes for her we’ll never refuse money!

Merisi Diamond holds on for fifth career win
The three weeks probably just freshened him up. We ran him back three times quickly enough because we were afraid the ground might go on him. He did a nice piece of work during the week. Billy said the cheekpieces helped him in the middle of the race. He’s probably getting a little bit cuter with age. He’s a good steady handicapper and you’d be hoping there might be another good pot in him someday. It’ll be ground dependent. Today was the plan, we’ve nothing else in the calendar and we’ll see what the weather does. If it gets better he might go on a little break. Joanna (Morgan) gave me the chance with the horse. She got hurt earlier in the year and rang me to go collect him in the field. It’s brilliant because if I have any problems I give her a bell and there is great knowledge from her. I have to thank her for giving me the chance with him.
