The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Homesman (USA), ridden by Anastasia O'Brien, winner, Modern Approach, ridden by D.M. Redmond, placed second, and Buffalo Blues (GB), ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed fourth, where it appeared Buffalo Blues (GB) and Modern Approach suffered interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned, in the presence of John Griffin, authorised representative of J.S. Bolger, trainer and master of D.M. Redmond, and A.P. O'Brien, trainer and master of Ana O'Brien. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while interference took place, they could not be satisfied that the winner had improved it's finishing position as a result of the interference, and so they made no alteration to the judges' placings. They were however, of the opinion Ana O'Brien was in breach of Rule 214 in that she had ridden carelessly, and having taken her good record into account, the Stewards suspended her for 1 raceday. W.J. Lee, rider of Mauricio trained by W. McCreery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung off the bend and continued to hang left thereafter. K.J. Leonard, rider of Safepac Lad (GB) trained by D. Donovan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.
