THE BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF RESTRICTED NOVICE STAKES (CLASS 4) (for horses in Bands C and D) (EBF Restricted Race Qualifier) (GBB RACE) Permission was given for Perfect Love (GB) and Theft (IRE) to wear a red hood to post with the former also going early to post.
Extragalactic (IRE) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
Del Pearo (IRE), placed second, jumped the road crossing, shifted quickly left-handed causing Perfect Love (GB), unplaced, to clip a heel and stumble but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Del Pearo (IRE).
Just inside two furlongs out, Extragalactic (IRE), placed second, shifted quickly right-handed and was immediately corrected, causing the improving, Capitano Josepi (IRE), winner, to be moved off its line and take a check bumping Strong Performance (GB), unplaced, which in turn moved Top Cote (IRE), placed fourth, right-handed into the intended line of Pressured (GB), unplaced, causing that runner to take a check when short for room but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Extragalactic (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider two pieces of interference on the run to the line involving Rocsane (IRE), placed third, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa, the winner, Capitano Josepi (IRE), ridden by Jack Mitchell, Del Pearo (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Christian Howarth, and Extragalactic (IRE), placed second, ridden by Harry Davies.
In the first incident on the run to the line, De Sousa was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he was slow to correct his mount drifting left-handed under a right-handed drive, moving Extragalactic (IRE) off his intended line and briefly inconveniencing Del Pearo (IRE).
In the second incident on the run to the line the interference was found to be accidental as Capitano Josepi (IRE), went quickly left-handed away from the whip before being immediately corrected, moving Rocsane (IRE) off his line, causing him to take a check, which in turn bumped Del Pearo (IRE), moving him off his intended line as well.
Following the race, Mason Paetel reported that Perfect Love (GB), unplaced, stumbled just after the road crossing and Taryn Langley reported that Mystic Unicorn (GB), placed fifth, hung right-handed.
