Colcannon proves a lunchtime treat at Fairyhouse
To be honest he’s been very disappointing up until now. . I’d say ground is a lot to do with it and when he gets it a bit quicker he’ll be even better. . On what he did last year you’d be kind of expecting him to be one of the top horses around this year but his couple of runs have been very disappointing. It’s taken him a while to learn how to jump as well. The reason he spent a second season in bumpers was because he was such a poor jumper. . He’s just getting the hang of it now. The last was the only mistake, he jumped brilliant up until that. . Donagh was saying the ground made a huge difference to him. We’ll be able to continue on with him for the summer.
Katie another big-priced winner at Fairyhouse
That was great. I thought she was well handicapped on her maiden hurdle form, but she just lost her way,. She’s been working very well for the last couple of weeks, so we were expecting a big run from her today.
‘He was well named, I think’ – Mullins impressed with He’s On Fire
He’s a good horse, he was giving a penalty away there,. It was nip and tuck down to the last and Noel Meade’s horse fell. Jack thought he had the beating of him and I thought it was a good performance. He could be a nice chaser next year. He was bought to be a big chaser down the road, he’s a gorgeous horse. I doubt if we’ll see him again this year. He’s a lovely horse for the future.
Fire burns bright in Grade 2 novice
It was very impressive. He’s shown us at home that he was half decent,. He’ll probably go on again to Punchestown, all being well. He looks like a real chaser in the making, he has size and scope. He might just be another good horse for Rich and Susannah (Ricci). I’m sure he’ll have no trouble getting three miles over fences. I thought he jumped well enough but the way he opened up from the second last was wow, it was something else. There was a nice field of horses there, including our own. I didn’t think he’d leave a few of our own horses that far behind. He’s just improving all the time. We’ll have a look at the Grade 1 in Punchestown but I’m looking forward to next year more than anything else, when he goes novice chasing. He was well named I think.
