See also » Diamond Du Berlais could be one for a Far Hills 'adventure' She was disappointing here the last day, but was entitled to do that today. In fairness, our horses weren't running to their very best in July and stepping up in trip definitely helped her. Definitely at the start of July our horses weren't quite bombing along but since Galway they have been red-hot. I thought Brian was very good on her, got her jumping and into a good rhythm. There is a race for her in Listowel and we're also toying with the idea of running in a mares' race at Far Hills (America). That race is over two miles so we might have to put cheekpieces on her, but I'm hoping she is good enough to drop back in trip at that level. Pete (Davies, owner) is keen for an adventure and I'd also like to ride over there, although she'd need a penalty for me to make the weight. W P Mullins, trainer
Josh Williamson, rider of Local News, trained by Richard Hennessy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped a wing and hit a doll between the third and second last
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident between the third last and second last hurdles involving Local News, ridden by Josh Williamson, placed third, Diamond Du Berlais (FR), ridden by B. Hayes, placed first, and Pets Georgina, ridden by J.J. Slevin, placed fourth where it appeared Local News went the wrong side of a doll on the inner. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Josh Williamson stated that as he came to the flight he went for a gap between horses when Diamond Du Berlais jumped left. As they headed for the doll after the hurdle they hadn't much time to redirect and his horse was intimidated but there was no contact. After the incident he was unsure whether he should pull up or not and decided to keep riding. B. Hayes stated that his mount went left at the hurdle. He straightened up and they couldn't get back in on time before meeting the doll. He also stated that the camber of the track took them left but he didn't take the room of Local News. J.J. Slevin stated that his horse made a mistake at the hurdle and he wasn't really involved in the incident. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards disqualified Local News under the provisions of Rule 215 and Rule 262 (iv)(b)(horse not running the proper course), ordered the stake forfeited and amended the placings as follows
1st Diamond Du Berlais 2nd Brother Walfrid 3rd Pets Georgina 4th Don Jefe Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards found Josh Williamson in breach of Rule 215(i)(not pulling up after his horse ran the wrong side of a doll) and having taken his clean record into account cautioned him on this occasion. The Raceday Stewards also found B. Hayes in breach of Rule 214 (Careless Riding) and having taken his clean record into account suspended him for two race days
