THE CHEPSTOW PLANT INTERNATIONAL SUPPORTS CHEPSTOW CENTENARY HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) Permission was given for Eightthreeone (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference just inside the final 2 furlongs involving the winner, Red Snapper (GB), ridden by Charlie Tucker, Eightthreeone (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Rob Hornby and Pull The Rug (IRE), placed second, ridden by Ray Dawson.
As a 7lb claiming apprentice, Tucker was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
Tucker was suspended for 7 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed causing Hornby to take a considerable check aboard Eightthreeone (GB) when forced onto the heels of Pull The Rug (IRE), which resulted in him making contact with the hind quarters of that runner, briefly unbalancing Pull The Rug (IRE).
In arriving at this penalty, the stewards were also cognisant that when suffering the interference, Eightthreeone (GB) lost all chance of being competitive thereafter.
Following the race, Ray Dawson reported that his foot slipped out of his left-iron aboard Pull The Rug (IRE), placed second, when inside the final furlong, but he was able to regain his iron shortly thereafter.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Eightthreeone (GB), placed fourth, lost its left-hind shoe.
