An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Bridge Road (IRE), ridden by Sean Quinlan and trained by Jennie Candlish, which was patiently ridden towards the rear to make some progress under apparent tender handling in the home straight, to finish fifth beaten by 30 ¾ lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Bridge Road (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated his instructions were to drop in and get Bridge Road (IRE) jumping and travelling and do the best he could.
He explained that Bridge Road (IRE) was running in snatches from 4 out and made a mistake at the third last.
He further added that he felt the gelding was running green and needed holding together in order to finish its race, and in his opinion, he had obtained the best possible placing.
His explanations were noted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Doors Breaker (FR), unplaced, lost its right fore shoe.
