Phoenix Pairc strikes for McCreery & Lee
The owners were disgusted when this meeting was called off the last time because they thought she had a good chance. At least when they put the race back on, they were delighted. . Billy gave her a lovely uncomplicated ride and kept it simple. She got a handy lead and she was in a lovely rhythm and she seemed to enjoy it there. Tries hard. . I suppose the conditions of the race (for horses that had run at least twice and are rated 70 or less) helped her too and everything.
Marnane's filly bolts up in Dundalk feature
This is a very, very good filly - I've made a balls of her. I brought her to Galway and I probably shouldn't have. Then I dropped her back in trip and I shouldn't have. Then even the storm stopped her from running here last week! . I thought it was just going to be one of those years with her, but she has done that very well. . She'll come back here for the Listed race (Cooley Fillies Stakes, November 7th) in a month's time. . She's in the December Mares Sale and she is a very, very good filly. . She has done a couple of pieces of work up here that would just blow you away. She's very quick, she travels and her form up here is rock-solid. . I like the sire (Phoenix of Spain), they are good, solid horses. . Hopefully she will go to the December Mares Sale - I'd love to keep her in the yard. If somebody bought her, I'd love to hang on to her.
Johnny's Oasis claims first win under Caffrey
He has been consistent, but been frustrating. He was a breeze-up horse (cost 85,000 Euro last year) and he was just very frustrating at times, but at least he has got a win under his belt. He has run three or four good races and some days you'd expect him to run well and he lets you down. In all fairness, Adam was very good on him there tonight. They went good and hard and they were sprinting sectionals and I said 'these ain't no sprinters!'. In all fairness, Luke's horse (McAteer on Drafted) stayed going and battled but Adam gave him a very, very good ride.
