An enquiry was held to consider whether Sam James, the rider of Soaring Star (IRE), had failed to pull up his horse, when it appeared to have a problem which was materially affecting its performance.
The rider and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed and recordings of the incident were viewed.
The Veterinary Officer stated that a post-race examination of Soaring Star (IRE), which finished sixth of six, beaten 62 lengths, revealed the gelding to be lame on its left-hind.
The rider was suspended for 8 days.
Following the race, Daniel Muscutt reported that Affwonn (IRE), placed third, hung left-handed under pressure.
