An enquiry was held to consider the circumstances surrounding Richard Harper’s behaviour towards his runner, Wee Willie Nail (IRE), which had planted in the pre-parade ring and was refusing to enter the parade ring.
The Veterinary Surgeon who reported the matter, Harper and a member of his staff were interviewed.
Harper was fined £500, as he had behaved in an improper manner towards his horse by striking the gelding across the face with a racecard.
Wee Willie Nail (IRE) was withdrawn by the Stewards.
