Kensington Lane lands Gowran's opener
Coen in control as Murtagh targets Goffs Million
my wife was giving out to me after the last time because it was a bonus race (for horses bought at Goffs Orby Book 1 sale) at the Curragh: we missed it, but thankfully got it today. Ben was very happy with him that first day when he didn’t get much of a run and said he was a bit unlucky really, but I think it stood to him. He is back so soon as we want to qualify him for the Goffs Million and that was his big target this year. I’m delighted with the way he won, they are new owners (Maribeth Sandford) from America and this is the first batch of horses they’ve had with me. It’s extra special when you can ring the owners and say you won and extra 50 thousand, so it’s win-win!
Lavender Breeze scores for Harrington & Foley
we’re delighted with that and she’s a filly that has just taken a little bit of time. She’s probably stepped forward from each of her runs and the way the race panned out today really suited her. They went hard, the wide draw definitely helped her, and she hit the line well. We’ll see what the team want to do with her, she’s going to handle a bit of ease in the ground so we might give her a shot at a stakes race. We don’t have her in the Denny Cordell (Stakes) but there are plenty of other options coming up for her. She’s got a beautiful pedigree and it’s nice for her to get a win out of the way. She was really good today because she has been a little bit difficult. The guys at home have done a great job with her.
Gangsta Man secures second seasonal success
Gangsta Man has been a bit unlucky in a couple of his runs and probably deserved it. He had a nice draw over seven here and got the luck in running, sat in the box seat and it worked out to plan. The plan was to bring him to the horse-in-training sales in Newmarket and I don’t know if he’ll run again between now and then.
Gowran win for Gloriously Glam
she dropped in grade today and had been sulking a wee bit on us. I’d say the little juice in the ground has helped her but Adam was very good on her, he took no messing and sent her on. She ran a nice race up the Curragh for Jessie (Harrington) before the boys bought her online but disappointed once or twice. I think it really suits her racing around a bend, as she can jump out and dictate. She’s great in a race like this when she’s able to hold her own, and I think she’ll sneak a handicap along the line. Listowel could suit her, around a bend, and while we could try her at Dundalk, I don’t know whether she’d handle the surface or not. We’ll see what happens.

Sisters secure Gowran double
Thrifty Of Digby had three weeks out in the field so was fresh, and was just ready to start back. It was kind of a stepping stone for a fillies handicap in Punchestown, so we’ll go there next. Hopefully we have a nice autumn with her and I think she’s actually after growing. She’s a lovely filly and I’d imagine Pat (Harty, owner) will keep her in training next year as well. It was nice to see that her full-sister, Gloriously Glam, won earlier for Ado (McGuinness).
