The winner, Merrimack (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Sandown on 17 September 2025, where the gelding finished ninth of nine runners, beaten 20 ¾ lengths on Soft ground.
The representative of Stuart Williams' explanation that the gelding had benefitted from more suitable ground on this occasion, officially described as Good to Soft, Good in places was noted.
